Sadly, Rusesabagina’s adopted daughter, Carine Kanimba has never heard this warning, and consequently she has been busted in the trap. She is an outright liar, and not a good one or shrewd one. Her handlers are doing the family a dis-service
See, since Rusesabagina arrived in Rwanda on a private chartered jet, and following his trial (which he boycotted on bad monumental legal advice) and his conviction and sentence, Kanimba has become the spokesperson of the family. She does a half ass job because she lies openly and has chosen to stick her head in the sand while avoiding all evidence presented in open court.
I do understand the emotions and trauma the family is going through. It is not a comfortable position to be in. I get it. But to refuse to accept reality and weigh the overwhelming evidence against Rusesabagina does not serve Rusesabagina well, nor the family. Their faith and hope that the so-called “international community” would rescue Rusesabagina have been dashed. Certain things simply don’t happen in Rwanda. The family should have consulted Victoire Ingabire whose hopes met the same fate.
On July 27, 2022, Kanimba appeared before a U.S. House Intelligence Committee and alleged that her phone had been hacked with NSO Group’s Pegasus Spyware. She testified that her phone was infected with Pegasus spyware February, 2021. Her phone is an iPhone X running iOS version 14.6. Allegedly the Rwanda government was behind all this.
In a scathing letter (below) dated September 7, 2022, one Jonathan Boyd Scott, a computer scientist with a research focus on mobile malware and spyware technology wrote to Sen Ted Cruz whose Committee Kanimba testified to. The letter speaks for itself.
Simply put : the hacking that Kanimba alleges is impossible. ”It is impossible for an iPhone infected February, 2021 to have iOS 14.6. Apple’s iOS 14.6 was NOT released until May 24, 2021.”
Shame on you Kanimba. You are busted.
In defense of the man that adopted her, Kanimba sadly goes wild and makes emotional and baseless allegations that are NOT supported by facts, among which are;
Rusesabagina was kidnapped : You cannot ”kidnap” a fugitive. You simply apprehend them. Rusesabagina was held in solitary confinement for 250 days: Baloney. Rusesabagina was denied his medication: She is crying out for sympathy based on a false alarm. Rusesabagina was denied representation by so-called international lawyers: You need a license to practice law in Rwanda. Give me a break. Rusesabagina’s trial was a sham: he should have attended and showed the world so.
Kanimba goes on to complain that her father is only allowed five minute phone calls. Well, the man is in prison and not on vacation on the Riviera. Prisons have rules. Get over it.
Rwanda’s judiciary has been tested and seen to be above board. That is why the U.S. and several members of the EU continue extraditing alleged genocidaires in their countries to go to Rwanda to face justice. Rusesabagina had his day in court but he refused o participate, at his own peril.
