Last week in the city of San Antonio, Texas self-styled and lying genocide denier and negationist Paul Rusesabagina was the “keynote speaker” at the DREAMWEEK 2020 OPENING CEREMONY BREAKFAST.
His message has not changed, just turned crafty because he usually chooses un-informed and un-suspecting American audiences.
Universities and Colleges, having discovered Rusesabagina’s dishonest and outright lies claiming he saved hundreds of people during the Genocide against Tutsi in 1994 have shunned him.
To begin with, Rusesabagina was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush to mitigate America’s failure to intervene and halt the genocide against Tutsi. He certainly does not deserve, nor did he earn the recognition.
His story is a bold outright lie, crafted and aimed at audiences who have little or no knowledge about Africa, and in particular, Rwanda’s journey.
Alas, Americans are prone to believing anything out of Hollywood, and the movie HOTEL RWANDA has given this fraudster carte Blanche to make a fortune on the blood and suffering of Rwandans.
Rusesabagina’s continuing claims to humanitarian heroism is an insult to the memory of those who needlessly perished, and an assault on the honor and integrity of every Rwandese. But lest he forgets, the cost of his behavior and sinister machinations against Rwanda is high. You can run but you can’t hide forever.
There is overwhelming evidence of MRCD (which he co-founded) supporting and financing terrorists in the DRC and Burundi. And there is no statute of limitations.
It was hard to listen to Rusesabagina’s ramblings, but even harder knowing that the event was organized by a fellow African from Nigeria, who when I inquired said that it was all done in the name of ”freedom of speech”.
Baloney. I bet he would not have the balls to host a Nazi who denies and trivializes the Holocaust.
Which begs the question: why are some Africans self-hating, and do not care about the plight of other Africans?
That Rusesabagina continues to have a forum in America is not surprising, especially in the era of Donald Trump where racists and bigots have been emboldened and encouraged from the Oval Office. The thought of another Trump term Gives me sleepless nights.
The coup de grace for me listening to this hate monger and impersonator is when he referred to the returning Rwandan refugees as “NEWCOMERS” — obviously a dog whistle to his base of genocidaires and fringe extremists. The message is clear, and in Rusesabagina‘s demented mind the fact that he is married to a Tutsi absolves him of his criminality. Who is he fooling?
Repeated lies, time and time again, cannot change the facts and our history will never be written, nor defined by intellectual midgets like Rusesabagina.
The onus is on us to tell our story, and if the last 25 years is any indication, history will be kind to us. Because we will write it.
