Nations get the president they deserve. But nobody knew the Trump presidency would be this disastrous.
While the economy seems to be doing well, thanks to Trump, there is a very serious crisis of moral leadership. America has never been this divided along racial lines, as well as between the haves and have nots.
According to news reports, and the hard-hitting legendary Washington Post this week, intelligence services are holding back intelligence information from Trump for fear he might compromise sensitive operations, thus endangering the country. And he is the Commander in chief.
Things are actually worse than they seem.
His bromance with Russian President Vladimir Putin is worrisome, and some in high places, especially in intelligence agencies are loudly speculating and wondering whether Putin doesn’t have goods on Trump that might compromise him and in turn national security.
To steer attention from his leadership crisis, incompetence and mental un-suitability for the office, Trump is trying to pick a fight with Iran, Venezuela, Mexico and whoever will listen or respond to his childish taunts.
It is reported his senior aides are now fearful of giving him any type of negative news, especially to do with the polls on the up-coming 2020 election that has now swung into full gear.
The man is a nervous wreck, according to White House insiders and reporters covering him. Upon receiving negative poll results indicating that former Obama Vice President Joe Biden is ahead in polls in five southern states, Trump fired three pollsters, and went on television to deny the existence of such reports.
Everything in Trump’s world, if it is not to his liking, is fake news. But he tells us he is “ a stable genius.”
One sign of how Trump is becoming un-glued, yesterday during an interview with ABC News, his Deputy Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney started coughing to Trump’s disgust and the man was kicked out of the Oval Office.
And I am sure there are more incidents behind the curtains we do not know about, but equally alarming.
Trump has been at war with his intelligence agencies since assuming office, two and half years ago. In 2016 he retorted, “These are the same people that said Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction.”
Not exactly a vote of confidence in the men and women that are entrusted with America’s security.
There is really no love lost between Trump and his intelligence chiefs. His former National Security Advisor, Gen (Ret) H R McMaster (Republican) called him a “hopeless idiot.”
Not to be out done, former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson (Republican) called his boss a “fucking moron.”
And the insults are endless, raising serious concerns about the mental stability and moral fitness of Donald J. Trump.
Pulitzer Prize winning journalist George Will (Republican) refers to Trump as “ The Pathologically insecure President.”
All this and more should concern all of us, if not worry us, that the so-called leader of the Free World is so despised and continues to, on a daily basis, exhibit bad behavior and classless outbursts that border on schizophrenia.
