We are five days away from electing the next President of these United States, and no election has ever been more important than this in the history of the Republic.
It is a vote for the Soul of the Nation, because a second Trump term means four more years of the same — mis-governance, mediocrity, race riots, a divided nation like never before, and a battered democracy, what little remains.
Donald Trump is the worst president in the history of America, even those who elected him because he was doing well as a reality TV personality are now regretting it. It was amusing in 2016. Not so much now.
Richard Nixon, the 37th President of the United States (1969 – 1974) was a crook, but he had enough sense to resign after he was caught red-handed in cahoots with third rate buglers who broke into Democratic Party offices in an effort to steal the election.
Donald Trump’s ego gets in the way of doing what is best for the country. It’s all about himself, and how much money he can make to enrich his family at the expense of the American tax payer.
Nepotism under Trump has become the order of the day. Jared Kushner, son-in-law and his wife Ivanka are “senior presidential advisors.” Really now. These two have neither the experience nor the temperament to run a weekend Boy Scout camp.
According to The Washington Post, Trump has told more than 20,000 lies, half-truths and pure fabrications as of July 9, 2020. That is an average of 16 lies a day — more than my 14 year-old nephew. If this was not true, it would be funny, but we are talking about the leader of the Free World, not a village chief in a banana republic.
Among his most blatant lies is that he is a good businessman and a billionaire. Well, prove it. He has filed for bankruptcy 6 times. Allegedly stiffs his business partners every chance he gets. Is the first President ever, in over 200 years not to disclose his taxes. What is he hiding? His lame excuse is that he is under audit. As Joe Biden would say, “malarkey.” There is no law that says an audit stops you from releasing your taxes.
In 2016 and 2017, Trump paid $750 in federal taxes, for each year. For those two years, I personally paid more than double than the President of the United States of America. What is wrong with this picture?
During the time he has been in office, Trump’s White House revolving door has been moving faster than a circus merry go round, either through resignations or firings. What these officials have said, all staunch Republicans, is instructive;
John Bolton – former National Security Advisor; He is “erratic”, ”stunningly un-informed” and “un-fit for office.”
Gen James Mattis – former Defence Secretary; He “tries to divide us.”
Gen John Kelly – former White House Chief of Staff; He is the the first President in his lifetime who “does not try to unite the American people.”
Rex Tillerson – former Secretary of State; He is “un-disciplined” and “does not like to read.” For good measure, Hon Tillerson added, “he is a fucking moron” But he denies ever saying this.
Anthony Scaramucci – former White House Communications Director; He is “crazy” and “off the rails.”
If all this does not worry you, it should because a second Trump term where he does not need to seek re-election will be a threat to world peace, a recipe for race riots, and a bonanza for Trump’s businesses.
Under Trump, 225,000 Americans have lost their lives to Covid-19 — more than was lost in the Korean War, Vietnam, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, combined. Yes, Trump has blood on his hands. There is no other way to say it. Time and time again, 38 times so far since March, Trump has told the nation “We are rounding the corner. It’s going to go away.” Even after he contracted the virus, he was none too wise.
American democracy is under assault. America’s allies are laughing, but not amused. This “Land of the Free, Home of the Brave” is now, but a shadow of its glorious past. Trump must fall, and I hope and pray I get to see November 3rd.
Is this asking too much? I say not.
