TRUMPISM NOT GOOD FOR THE COUNTRY

TRUMPISM NOT GOOD FOR THE COUNTRY

Everybody in America is asking how we got where we are, how Donald Trump, an avowed racist, an anti-immigrant and raging homophobic maniac became the leader of the free world.

As we are told in “FIRE AND FURY” by Michael Wolff, a gossipy book that chronicles the chaos in Trump’s White House in the last year since he took office, the man is almost illiterate and does not like to read. All his lieutenants, as well as some of his billionaire friends think he is a “moron.”

Yesterday marked one year since Trump was sworn in as president. It was also an historic day: the Federal government shut down due to lack of funding. Never before in the history of this country has the government ever shut down when both Houses of Congress and the White House are controlled by the same party. In this case, Trump’s party.

Trump’s first year, commonly now referred to as a “reign of chaos” has taken the country through some incredibly foolish spectacles, not to mention the constant moronic tweets insulting world leaders, senators as well as federal judges and members of his own cabinet. Each tweet is more psychotic than the previous one. I wonder why there are no bets in Las Vegas on whether Trump will complete his first term.

It is more than ironic that a man as hardline on immigration as Donald Trump has been surrounded by immigrants his entire life, starting from the very beginning.

Trump’s mother came from Scotland and entered America in 1930 on a ship, and without a visa.

Trump’s father, Fred, was a son of German immigrants who sailed to America in 1885. I doubt whether they had legal papers on arrival.

Then there is Ivana, Trump’s first wife who was born in Czechoslovakia. She married an Austrian ski instructor in order to get a foreign passport to leave the communist country, according to her divorce lawyer.

Trump’s current wife and former actress, Melania, was born in Slovenia.

Trump’s Transportation Secretary, Elaine L. Chao was born in Taiwan.

You then have to ask, what kind of fool would insult his own blood and the very people that he entrusts with executing his policies? Plus another that warms his bed at night.

Donald Trump has been a poor president. And as we begin his second year Congress should hold his feet to the fire before he causes grave damage to the Republic.

This past year I have had to pinch myself to make sense of it all. You know there is looming danger when the leader of the free world is portrayed as a monstrously selfish toddler-emperor seen by his own staff as unfit for office.

Alas! As we enter Trump’s second year his sanity is in question.
